Rackwood Fell Ponies

Rackwood Fell Ponies are a small herd that was founded in 1977 and live mainly on a hillside at the edge of Hamsterley Forest in County Durham. The ponies are very hardy and live out all year round grazing steep north facing slopes at 1000 feet above sea level.

They are bred from traditional Heltondale bloodlines and demonstrate true Fell pony characteristics with lots of good flat bone, big round feet and silky feather. They have had more than thirty years of show ring success with three generations of Fell Pony Society Breed Show Supreme Champions.

They are very versatile and willing ponies with good straight movement which can be used for many riding and driving disciplines.
